Be on the look out in your grocery store for the return of two General Mills Classic Monster Cereals available in both retro and modern packaging. Frute Brute and Fruity Yummy Mummy are back, but only for a limited time.
Kids will not remember these cereals, but most of us older parents definitely will. Frute Brute was discontinued back in 1982 and Fruity Yummy Mummy was discontinued in 1992.
They are back just in time for the Fall/Halloween season with our other favorites; Boo Berry, Count Chocula and Franken Berry - that’s right you know have 5 monstrous cereals to choose from - that is a different monster every day of the week, less weekends. And for us older folks (shhh not telling if I am in that group) can find these cereals in their original retro packaging exclusively at Target. Oh and they also have Boo Berry in retro packaging too. I ♥ That !!
Here is a look at all the Monster Cereals in the retro packaging - Flashback moment for a lot of us. But again you will only find Frute Brute, Fruity Yummy Mummy and Boo Berry being sold in this look at Target. Not sure why they did not do them all.
Here is a look at all of the Monster Cereals with their modern look. Honestly I like the modern look the best.
Now in case you have never tried the other two Monster Cereals I took a picture of them for a closer look, they look very similiar in color as you can see.
Frute Brute is a Frosted cherry flavored cereal with marshmallows and Fruity Yummy Mummy is a Frosted orange-cream flavored cereal with marshmallows. Both are really yummy and a welcome addition to the others we have been eating for years.
Personally I buy the Monster Cereals every year not only because I LOVE them and so do my kids, but it is now a tradition.
A couple years back I created these Monster Cereal Cupcakes where I baked the cereal into the cupcakes and topped the frosting with some as well. I also made the Monster Cereal Toppers and Wrappers for each of them too which are FREE to print on that post HERE.
It is rare you see me posing for my blog, but I just had to for this one because I was so excited about these cereals. I will be fighting with my kids and hubby over them though, urgh!!
Oh and if you cannot get to the store to buy your cereal - order it online !!!
