Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Cupcakes

With the New Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Movie coming to theaters next month I wanted to create a little something in honor of the movie and all the upcoming Harry Potter Birthday Parties that will be planned around it. Harry Potter fans have been waiting for this movie for a long time and it is only Part 1 of 2 and looks like it will be amazing.

This Harry Potter Movie seems much darker than the rest and will be the second to last of them made with Part 2 coming to theaters 2011 – so they say, you never know. I have a feeling all of us Harry Potter Fans will be on the edge of our seats for this one and left with an open ending and a long wait to the next release. I almost want to wait so I can watch them back to back, but that will never happen.

So anyway I decided to create some Harry Potter Cupcakes to celebrate the new movie and Lucky for you I am going to share with you Step by Step Directions and FREE Printable Templates so you can create them too.

My inspiration came from the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Book cover you see to the right. I wanted to create a similar scene on the top of a cupcake with the Potter Gravestone and that Dark Scene. So I decided a Spooky Tree, Potter Gravestone, Some Dirt and a Cupcake Wrapper that looks like a Cemetery Fence would be perfect.  So I took that idea and brought it to life and I love the way them came out.

They were very easy to do, looked cool and yummy to eat. Now let me show you how you can make them too !!!

Here is what I used to create the Harry Potter Cupcakes:

Here are all pretty much all my Supplies needed. The templates for the Spooky Tree, Harry Potter Gravestone & Harry Potter Cupcake Wrappers are available to Download and Print for FREE. Click the links from the Supply list above.

Print our the Spooky Tree Template (Link above in Supply List), attach to a Clipboard or Cardboard Base. This will keep it sturdy and flat for when you turn it into Chocolate. Then take a piece of Wax Paper and place it on top of it.

Now you take some of your Chocolate Melting Wafers and add it to your Make n Mold Decorator Bottle. The Make n Mold Decorating Bottles are just a plastic bottle I purchased at the Craft Store and they are used for Decorating with Melted Chocolate (These are my new favorite Toys).  All you do is fill it up with the Chocolate Melting Wafers and Microwave it on 50% Power until the Chocolate Melts. Then you just add the Tip back on and you are ready for business.

Once the chocolate is melted I added in some Black Candy/Chocolate Coloring to turn the chocolate darker in color. I wanted my Tree Black, but it did not come out that way. It did however come out much darker with some streaks in it which I liked in the end. You can purchase Black Chocolate Melting Wafers, but I did not have any on hand for this project and if I were to create this again I would probably use them. Either way will look great.

Then you simply Fill in your Tree Design on the Wax paper. Add a Toothpick to the bottom and cover with Chocolate so it can stick into the Cupcake easily when complete. Once filled take it to the freezer to set up – takes maybe 5 minutes. Then Carefully Peel away the Wax Paper and you have yourself one very cool tree.

Now I turned some Chocolate Graham Crackers into dirt by sticking them into a Baggie and rolling a cup over them. Super Easy !!

Now time to Frost the Cupcakes and cover them with Dirt (Crushed Chocolate Graham Crackers). Still Easy right?

Now take the Harry Potter Cupcake Wrappers you printed and cut out from the Template (Link above in Supply List). And wrap them around your Cupcake and add a Piece of Tape to hold them closed in the back. Now take your Harry Potter Grave Stones you printed and cut out from the Template (Link above in Supply List) and tape a toothpick onto the back. Now we are ready to put it all together !!

Now just stick your Spooky Tree into the Cupcake and right to the side in front of that add in your Harry Potter Gravestone. Then your Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Cupcake is Complete !!! Not only do your Party Guest get a Sweet Cupcake, but they also get a Chocolate Tree to enjoy as well. Are they cool or what?

I would love to see your Cupcakes if you make these so send me your photos and I will add them right here. Have fun and Enjoy.

Pair these Cupcakes up with the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow Party Supplies and you are ready to Party Potter Style !!!
