How to Make Hot Fudge Brownie Sundae Push Ups

Have you seen the latest trend in Party Treats? Seems Push Up Cakes are becoming a very popular treat that are very easy to create at home in so many different ways.

So I hopped on the trend band wagon and will show you how I made Hot Fudge Brownie Sundae Push Ups that the kids and adults really enjoyed.

Last Summer I posted about Sprinkles Custom Cakes that started making what they call “CakeShooters” and I think they were the ones to get this trend started. Taking layers of Cake and Frosting and putting it into Clear Push Up Containers like the ones we can all remember enjoying with Ice Cream when we were little. I had the opportunity to receive samples of them last summer and I knew they had a BIG Hit on their hands. It is a fun mess free way to enjoy Dessert and they are extremely EASY to make.

Once people were able to get their hands on the Clear Push Up Containers used for these the trend took over and I have seen so many great SWEET creations out there. Best part is that the containers are reusable (love that). You will see these referred to as Cake Push Ups, Push Up Cakes, Push Pop Cakes, Push Up Cake Pops, CakeShooters etc… I call them Fun and Delicious !!

Here is what the Push Up Containers look like Empty. You have 3 parts The Container, Slider that pushes up and the Top – All washable and reusable.

So Where do you get these Clear Push Up Containers?

I must say that at times they are not easy to find due to the popularity of them. I purchased mine via Etsy, but you can also find some being sold on Ebay.

After I received mine in the mail I thought about what I would create first – so many ideas. I decided to do something cold and incorporate Ice Cream to bring it back to how I remembered them and that is what I did. So I am going to show you how EASY it was to do and give you some tips I learned along the way.

Here I what I used to make my Hot Fudge Brownie Sundae Push Ups:

  • Brownie Mix
  • Vanilla Ice Cream
  • Hershey’s Hot Fudge Topping (I also had Smucker’s Caramel Topping)
  • Maraschino Cherries
  • Clear Push Up Containers

So here are all my ingredients ready to go.  I baked my Brownies in a Mini Muffin Pan this way they would be the perfect size to fit into the containers, BUT I did not fill them all the way since I would be using 2 Brownies in each Push Up Container. I used about a Tablespoon of Brownie Mix for each one, so when you are baking them keep an eye on them to make sure they do not burn since the amount is small.

NOTE: If you are making Push Up Cakes I suggest using the Mini Muffin Pan as well, the size is perfect. You can add a small amount of Cake Batter in each spot or make them bigger and slice them in 1/2 for your layering. Or you can bake a cake and use a Circle Cookie Cutter for your pieces, but honestly you have less waste doing it this way and it is extra easy and for me that is what I am about – EASY.

Next I let the Brownies cool and before I was ready for assembly I took the Vanilla Ice Cream out to soften a bit for easy scooping. I also took out my Cherries from the jar and placed on a plate so they could get a bit dry from the juice and I also removed the stems.

Now the Fun Part – ASSEMBLY !! In a small bowl I heated up some Hot Fudge and now I was ready to go. First layer Brownie on the bottom, then a small scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream topped with a nice size Drizzle of Hot Fudge. Repeat, BUT do not forget to add the Cherry on the Top !!! Cover and stick upright in the Freezer for a few hours to harden up.

I also did some doing the same method, but adding Caramel instead of the Hot Fudge (my son loves Caramel).

Think of all the Ice Cream Flavor & Topping Possibilities……

NOTE: If you are creating Push Up Cakes it is the same concept – all layering. Cake, Frosting, Candies etc…  It really is EASY and now that I feel part of the trend and have done it myself I can say that.

We had some friends over so it was the perfect time to serve them up and see what everyone thought. The kids absolutely LOVED them and the adults could not resist either. As you can see one of my friends gave it a Thumbs Up, as did my Goofball Hubby. Let me say that I made 12 of these and with just 8 of us they were all gone when I checked the freezer. Seems like some of them were sneaky and went in for seconds – hmmmmmm. Something tells me my daughter was one of those sneaks !!

So now all my Push Up Containers are washed and ready to go again… Stay Tuned for my next SWEET creation whatever it may be.

Now that you saw how EASY these are to use – I say go get some and get on the Push Up Cake Trend like I did.  Fun Fun Fun !!

Oh and for even more fun – You can also decorate your Push Up Containers with Labels, Ribbons, Fun Toppers etc…
