Looking to make your packaged Tortellini into something special? Well I have a recipe to share that adds a creamy white sauce with a crispy topping and it is so EASY to make.

There is something about the fall weather that makes me break out my casserole dish. I love making casseroles and I love EASY recipes. This recipe for Tortellini Casserole is one I have had for a long time.  I just broke it out and made it a couple weeks ago for the family – the kids always love it !!

I documented making it step by step to share because I think casseroles are great for parties and this is one you should add on the list. Now let me show you just how EASY and simple it really is.

Here is what you will need for this Tortellini Casserole:

  • 1 Package (16 ounce) Cheese or Beef Tortellini – I use Cheese
  • 2 Tbsp Butter
  • 3 Tbsp all purpose Flour
  • 2 Cups low fat Milk
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/3 Cup Bread Crumbs (or less – see note in directions below)
  • 1/3 Cup Parmesan Cheese

Note: I double mine and that is what is shown in the photo.

So here are all my ingredients ready to go. That is all it takes to create this yummy dish !!

Preheat your oven to 450. Get a Casserole Dish handy – I used a 13″ x 9″, but I doubled the recipe.If you are not doubling it a 1 1/2 – 2  quart would work.

Next boil your water and Cook the Tortellini according package.

While that is cooking you can prepare the sauce. Get out a Sauce pan and start by melting your Butter over medium heat. Then add in Flour and stir constantly until a smooth paste forms. Next slowly add in your Milk whisking with a wire whisk until smooth. Cook that for about 3-4 minutes until sauce bubbles and thickens. Stir in your Worcestershire Sauce and Salt. Remove from heat.

So far so EASY right?

Drain your Tortellini and then add it to your Sauce and Mix. Then transfer that into your Casserole Dish (don’t forget to spray it with cooking spray).

Then sprinkle the top with the Parmesan Cheese and then your Bread Crumbs.

Note: My kids requested that when I make this again to reduce the amount of Bread Crumbs on the top – they thought it was too much. So if you do not like a lot then use what you think everyone would like. I will not leave it off totally because this is what adds the crispness.

Then stick that baby in the oven for about 5-10 minutes or until Golden Brown. Let stand for about 5 minutes serve and chow down !!

And here is my portion and it was YUMMY in my Tummy !!

So if you are looking for a way to change up Tortellini I would give this a try – we like in my house !!

And again this is a great recipe for your next Party or Family Dinner.

Enjoy !!
