black cat chocolate chip cookie pie pops 1It has been some time since I got creative in the kitchen and today I decided to bake up these Black Cat Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie Pops just in time for Halloween. Not only are these adorable, but there is a nice cookie surprise in the middle the kids will love!!

I had seen a recipe awhile back for these Cookie Pies, but decided to put my own spin on them and turn them into something fun for the upcoming holiday. Of course I will show you step by step how you can make them at home and trust me – they are EASY to make and taste delicious.

You can choose to put them on sticks like I did or make them without – either way you choose to do it they will be a HUGE hit with the little ones and a great addition to your fall festivities or Halloween Party.

So here is what you need to create these Black Cat Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie Pops:

  • Pillsbury Refrigerated Pie Crusts
  • Refrigerated Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough – I used Toll House
  • Yellow M&Ms
  • Candy Corn
  • Round Circle Cookie Cutter (mine is 3 1/2″)
  • Fork
  • Cookie/Lollipop Sticks
  • Powdered Sugar
  • Milk
  • Vanilla
  • Black and Pink Food Coloring Gel
  • Black Food Marker
  • Food Safe Paint Brush
  • Toothpick

**I was able to get 9 pies from one box of Pie Crusts**

Chocolate Chip Cookie PiesGather your Pie Crust, Cookie Cutter, Fork, Pop Sticks and Cookie Dough.

Start by rolling out one of the pie crusts and cut out your circles. Again I was able to cut 7 from each – I re rolled out the scraps and got another 2 pies.

Using the scraps/edges cut out triangles for your cats ears.

Place your pie bottoms on your cookie sheet. Place the ears on the top as shown in the photo.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Pies 1Next slice up your Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough – make one slice per pie.

Place your cookie dough in the middle of your pie bottom.

If you are going to use a Pop Stick then stick it in now into your cookie dough.

Tip: Before placing your pie top on take some water on your finger and run it around the edges. This will help your pie dough to adhere better when placing the top on.

Place your pie top on.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Pies 2Next take your fork and press it gently around the edges of your pie to seal it closed.

Be sure to make a good seal at the bottom where your stick is to help secure that in place as well.

Place you Cookie Pie Pops in a preheated oven at 350 and bake them for approx 15 minutes or until lightly golden brown.

If you get a pie (like I did) that breaks its seal and opens up no worries, just press the seal back together once you pull it from the oven and it is still warm.

Place your baked pies on a cooling rack and let them cool completely before decorating – I gave mine a couple hours.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Pies 3Meanwhile grab your yellow M&Ms and your black food marker and draw on some cat eyes.

Time to create your icing. Now I do not really have any measurements for this because I just do it by taste and thickness. I take about 1 Cup of Powdered Sugar add in some milk to get a nice thick icing. I add in a touch of Vanilla for flavor and then my Black Food Coloring Gel and mix. **Note** Before adding in your coloring set aside a bit to use for your whiskers and pink ears later. You do not need much.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Pies 4Using a paint brush brush on the black icing over the entire pie.

While still wet add your cat eyes and candy corn nose.

After the black icing has set up and dried take your icing you did not add color to and create whiskers and add them on using a toothpick.

Once you are done with that add some pink food coloring gel to the left over icing to create a pink color and add that on to the ears using another toothpick.

That is it!!! You are done!!

black cat chocolate chip cookie pie pops 2These Black Cats are ready for snacking on!!

black cat chocolate chip cookie pie pops 3Of course my daughter was waiting to be the first to take a bite. As you can see the Chocolate Chip Cookie bakes inside the pie crust and stays nice and moist. So you have a nice flaky pie crust with a cookie surprise on the inside with some added sweet icing and candy treats.

My daughter gave these 2 thumbs up and said they were adorbs – lol. Kids!!
