The Party Animal’s Party Peep Spotlight is where I feature and interview other creative Businesses in the Party Industry. These are Party Businesses you may or may not have heard of before. Today my Party Peep Spotlight is on Dandy Delights.

Dandy Delights’ main and first, product, are Custom Decorated Cookies.  They are not your run-of-the-mill frosted sugar cookies though.  Their cookies are shortbread (mmmm buttery goodness!) and are available in ten different flavors including original, almond, chocolate espresso, mojito and more. The latest product they’ve rolled out (due to their total ADD in the kitchen!) are handmade marshmallows.  They are also going to be available in a variety of flavors (such as orange crème and cherry vanilla) and will have the options of also being chocolate dipped. All of which make the Sweetest Edible Party Favors, which happen to be my very favorite kind !! I think their Peace Sign Cookies are Super Groovy Too.

So I got to ask my Party Peep Sara, the creative one behind all of these Custom Decorated Cookies, some questions so we can learn a little more about her and Dandy Delights.

So lets hear what she had to say with some Party Animal Q&A:

What inspired you to get into the Party World?

In 2009, I made cookie favors for my best friend’s wedding shower.  They were shortbread and flower shaped, with the couple’s initials on the front and chocolate on the back.  At the shower, a few people asked where we got the cookies.  From that an idea grew!

Do you have a Best Selling Product or Service? If so what is it?

I’m always coming up with new flavors, and now new products, so it’s hard to say what is the most popular.  The cinnamon shortbread was very popular at Christmas, but I’d have to say I get a lot of orders for the lemon shortbread.  I personally love all desserts with lemon, so it’s not too surprising to me!

Are your Products and Services Location Specific or Nationwide?

Initially I was staying local, but am now shipping my cookies all over the U.S. At Christmas, I even had one customer order cookies for her husband who was serving in the Army in Afghanistan.  I had to fill out a customs form for shortbread gingerbread men wearing camouflage fatigues! LOL!

Why would someone come to your for their Party Needs? What makes you stand out?

Well, as I mentioned before, they’re not your typical decorated cookie.  They’re also ridiculous delicious.  I’ve heard too often from people that they’ve had cookies that looked beautiful but tasted like cardboard.  Totally not the case here.  But aside from that, every order is completely custom.  You tell me what you want, and I’ll turn it into a cookie.  I can customize a cookie to go with a specific party theme or design, make them to match a logo, or even shape a custom cutter if you want something unique.  Last month I made a tank shaped cutter for tank cookies!

Fun Dandy Delights Facts

My last name is actually my business name, Dandy.  Having a fun last name like Dandy I just had to use it in my business name.  A common problem I come across though is people calling me Sandy.  I’m pretty sure if my name was Sandy, my husband probably never would have asked me out, Sandy Dandy!  No thanks!

Share one of your Best Party Memories?

I think I was probably around eight or nine, and my friend Linda had a Halloween party.  Her mom had a walk-thru house set up in the basement.  At one part we had to stick our hands through holes and feel things in bowls.  They were supposed to be things like ‘brains’ and ‘eyeballs’, but of course were cold, wet spaghetti and peeled grapes.  A lot of creepy fun for an eight year old though!

What is your Favorite Party Game?

For kids, the piñata will never get old for me.  I love the determination you see when the kids are trying so hard to bust that piñata, especially when they are little and it’s pretty much impossible.  And then of course the sheer excitement of all the kids when the candy and toys start flying!

What is your Favorite Party Theme?

In my house we LOVE Halloween.  We’ve been having kids and grown up Halloween parties for years.  Luckily I have parents with a horse farm, so this year the kids party included a hay ride to a pumpkin patch that we set up in the woods.  Our grown up party had a theme this year: A Night at the Movies!  My husband and I were Austin Powers and a Fembot.  We had a costume contest so our friends and neighbors really went all out.  One group came as the Scooby Doo gang, and one friend was Purple Rain era Prince.  The best part was that Prince was a 5’11” woman!

Birthday Cake or Cupcakes?

For kids, definitely cupcakes.  Easier serving and clean up, and when you have 10 or 12 of them running around, that’s important!  For adults, cake, but not just standard birthday cake, really decadent, elaborate, sinful cake.

What is one of your favorite things you like to send home as a Party Favor with the kids or see come home from a Party with yours?

I like to have a craft for the kids to do that they’re able to take home with them.  At my son’s birthday earlier this month, we did a superhero theme.  Each child got to decorate their own cape and mask.  We had glitter glue, feather, and peel and stick felt stars and letters.  One creative little girl made her cape say “Super Veronica”!

Let me show you a small taste of what Dandy Delights has to offer:
