For my Son’s 13th Birthday Party I decided to do an iPhone Birthday Party Theme since he is very into technology as well as his iPhone. So I am going to share with you some of things I put together for this party that you can do too if you are planning a party for a Techno Geek like I have.
My son did not have a huge party this year in fact I kept it small. He chose only 5 of his closest friends to come for a sleepover. Believe it or not he actually wanted to ban me completely from doing any kind of theme for his party – Can you believe that?
I guess he thought it would be uncool being a Teenager now and all. BUT I could not sit back and do that, I just couldn’t – his mother is The Party Animal for god sakes, How would that look (lol). So keeping the cool factor I just did a few things based on the iPhone and some of his favorite iPhone App Games like Angry Birds & Doodle Jump.
What I did not do was plan games or anything for them because he just wanted to hang out and Play Video Games & do Computer Stuff – so I honored that request. Nice of me huh? and I must say they were great and kept to themselves all night and had a great time. I still cannot believe my Baby Boy is now a Teenager, I wish I knew where the time went.
So let me show you what I did for the party……
It started with this cool 3D iPhone Party Invitation – Isn’t that cool?
You can make these too, they were not very hard to create at all just a bit tedious with all the cutting. I guess I was lucky I only had to make 5 of them. To see how I made them along with Step by Step Directions you can visit my post here: How to Make a 3D iPhone Party Invitation.
I wanted to incorporate Angry Birds into the party since it is one of his favorite iPhone App Games. So I came up with the idea to create these Angry Birds Balloons. I hand drew each one and then added color to them in Gimp. I printed them out, cut and taped the pieces onto my Balloons and lined them up across my Entertainment Center. I think they came out so cool – it was an Angry Birds Party on my TV. When the kids saw these they went nuts cause they also love Angry Birds. The best part about these is that I have made the Templates available to you so you can make them for your iPhone Party or Angry Birds Party just visit my post here: How to Make Angry Birds Balloons with FREE Templates. You didn’t think I would go through all that work and not share did ya? I am cool like that.
Being I was doing an iPhone Party Theme I came up with the idea to create an “APPY BIRTHDAY” iPhone Banner, get it – Appy? lol. How cool does the banner look with my Angry Birds Balloons above it? ❤. I then printed out a bunch of my son’s favorite iPhone Apps to surround it. The kids really loved this too and got a kick out of the “Appy”. Again I have made this available for you too and you can print one out just like by visiting my post here: FREE Printable Appy Birthday iPhone Party Banner.
Every year as a tradition I make my own signs that I hang on my Kitchen Cabinets for the Kids Birthdays featuring the things they are into that year – so of course my son’s is the iPhone. So I created these fun iPhone Signs for him. My favorite has to be the “Holy App DJ’s 13” because that is exactly what I was sayin’ the whole day.
I am a Cupcake Fan at parties so for my son’s Cupcakes I made these iPhone App Cupcakes. Well I did make the Cupcakes, but I had the Fondant iPhone Cupcake Apps custom made for me with my son’s favorite Apps and personal messages. It was my first time ever ordering Fondant Cupcake Toppers or any Toppers at that. I usually decorate my own, but I have never worked with Fondant nor did I think I could pull off making iPhone Apps. So I called on my Party Peep Two Sugar Babies to pull this off and since making these for me they now offer them for sale so you can get them too. Take a look at my post to learn how here: iPhone App Cupcakes.
For my Party Favors I called on my Peeps at Forbidden Sweets. I have carried their Handmade Chocolate Covered Rice Krispy Treats on my main website for years and they are my favorite things to send home with the kids. So I asked them to create some Angry Birds and Doodle Jump Treats for me. They came out great and I cannot tell you how wide eyed the kids were when they saw these and found out they got to take them home. What is even cooler is that you can get them for your party now too, thanks to me ;o). You can visit my post to see how to order here: Angry Birds Chocolate Covered Rice Krispy Treat Party Favors.
So each kid went home with one Angry Bird Treat, one Doodle Jump Treat and a very cool Sky Lantern
. Being these kids are 13 I thought they would really love the Sky Lanterns too and just as I thought they were very excited about them. What I love is giving the kids Unique usable Party Favors and these kids had never heard of a Sky Lantern before, so I was so excited about that. In case you have no idea what they are either I will tell you: Sky Lanterns (also known as UFO Balloons) have been an Asian tradition for hundreds of years. They are made from rice paper and bamboo so they are completely biodegradable (Love that). You just light the cardboard fuel pad and they inflate with hot air. Once inflated you release them and watch they fly into the air. They get the name UFO Balloons because some people have reported a UFO sighting when they have been seen in the sky beacuse they do not know what they are (ha ha). They are a lot of fun and you have never tried one I say go for it. They look best when inflated in groups and are used for many different events and parties and they are getting very popular.
So there you have it my Son’s 13th Birthday. This must have been the easiest party I have done for my kids yet being I did not have to do any entertaining – I am kinda sad because it means my baby is not a baby anymore. For the party food I ordered Pizza and I had all the fun party snacks boys love like Chips & Dips etc… I did give them these cool Foam Covered Glow Sticks I found at the dollar store when it was dark and they had fun with those – I love Glow Items.
Breakfast was crazy, feeding 6 Teenage Boys was nuts. I ended up making 18 Eggs – Scrambled, 2 Pkgs Bacon, 2 Pkgs of Sausages and 18 Hash Browns along with OJ and Milk. Can I tell ya there were no leftovers!! Holy Moly. I am thankful I only have 2 of my own to feed. You parents with big families – How do you do it?
Another Birthday Party Success under my belt. For my son that is 13 down and he was very happy with everything as was I. I think I pulled off the Cool Factor – What do you think?
I wonder if he will let me do anything next year? hmmmm
Enjoy all the FREE Printables – If you use any of them send me some photos to share I would love to see them !!
Fun to see how the whole thing went together! Looks like it was a big hit!
I was wondering if you could tell me where or how you made those invitations. They are awesome and I am looking to do something similar for an invitation that I need to do.
